curiousillusion: More randomness…

I'm actually back on Gilmore Girls again myself. Not really a marathon, but after a long hiatus (basically since the series finale), I have added GG back to my DVR.

I haven't actually gotten into reading on the iPhone yet. I have the Kindle app (since we have a Kindle) but it's a lot more annoying to read on the iPhone than on the Kindle. Mostly because of how you turn the page, I think. I also have Stanza, and haven't really enjoying using that, either.

Nice to meet another Gilmore Girls man. It was actually a few guys I worked with that introduced me to the show, pointing out that I liked like Alexis Bledel. In fact, I got told that again today.. I guess it's cuz we're both VERY pale, blue eyes, brown hair. :p

Ah I don't have a kindle so this is my first foray into ebook reading at all. I like how you turn the page on Stanza tho, much nicer than the slide on the Kindle app.

Okay I lied, just thought about it and I have tried ebook reading - on the blackberry. But that was all sorts of awkward, I think I had to scroll down to see more or something weird (this was a year and a half ago) and I gave up.

Huh. I never thought of the Alexis Bledel comparison, but I can see it, now that you mention it.

ABC Family is now on the beginnings of the Jess episodes. This is when I really like Gilmore Girls. Max is gone, but it's before the annoyance of Logan, etc (Gilmore Girls hits a point where it starts to feel, to me, about 'all the problems of rich people', and it annoys me). But that's not the case in the story arcs I'm in now. I credit my man Jess for that :)

Ha, I was just telling Beth that I couldn't stand Jess! I mean, a while back I was all for him but, compared to Dean, he's horrible. He doesn't treat Rory right at all.

I'm with you about Logan being annoying and all the rich people problems. My main dislike for the show would be that year and a half long fight between Rory and the mother. They were so snotty to each other or rather, about each other since they weren't talking that I almost dreaded watching the show. In fact, I dread reaching that part, which should be the next season.

And then the sudden appearance of April was annoying. Siiiigh.

    Oh, I don't LIKE Jess as a person...but I love him as a character.

Dean is lame though. As a character. He started off really interesting, but his character actually changes...a lot. He's smart and almost intellectual in the first few appearances...but then they dumbed him a down a bit, as if they were saving that for Jess.
  • curiousillusion · 4 months ago
Yeah I guess. I guess all of Rory's boyfriends (all 3 of them in 7 years) kinda were lame. Jess was slightly interesting but then so typical male with how he didn't like to talk or call, or basically even treat Rory right.

I did like Max. And Christopher, before they wildly changed his character. And Luke, til the April thing.

Man the show really went downhill towards the end.

Don't get me started about April. If there was ever a character that needed to get hit by a bus, it's her. Mostly because she's the "Cousin Oliver" of Gilmore Girls.

I read somewhere that people sleep in two-hour cycles... so you'll feel rested after six hours, or eight, but not seven.

I tend to get about six hours sleep a night but I'm ALWAYS tired! I'm not built to get up at 7:30am...

Dude, I so wish I was one of those people that could function on 6 hours of sleep. Anything less than 8 and I am freaking miserable.
  • Lucy · 4 months ago
Yeah I think I'm one of the people that need a lot of sleep to, like 8-9 hours. Thats funny you were having a Gilmore Girls marathon because I was going to do that today, but decided I'd watch Buffy instead.

This time next year, I'll be right where you are. Except for the first time EVER. At least you've been a new teacher before so you know what you're getting yourself into.
Unless, of course, Im overseas teaching. Will be even more insane. New job, plus new home, new language, new EVERYTHING. *deep breath*
    Being an adult is rough.

God, I am sooooo not one of those people who can function on little sleep. And by little, I mean less than 8 or 9 hours. I'm pretty much always tired and have the metabolism of a person in a coma. I don't know how you read off of your iPhone - so tiny! And I love the feel and smell of books - can't get away from them. Since I love to read in the bathtub too, I don't think it's a great idea to read on a phone or kindle in there. I'm ready for mid-September too, but for different reasons - all the annoying kids and punks in my neighborhood will be in school and not being obnoxious on the street.

I'm a 6 hour person. Last night I went to bed at 11:30 and woke up at 3:30. Then I took an hour nap tonight at 5. And I'm ok.

I'm coming back from my mini blog hiatus. Sorry for not commenting in so long :(

And I'm really excited for you to meet your kids!

It doesn't matter how many hours of sleep I get, because I will be tired anyway and will be tready to go back to sleep at any given time.

I miss Gilmore Girls. I wish it hadn't got cancelled. I loved it.

Ooh I need TONS of sleep! I'm trying desperatly to re-educate my body clock because I like to stay up late, but rarely can.

Gilmore Girls rules! Hubby bought me the whole series boxed set a while ago and we watched it back to back. He likes it too!

I used to function on 5-6 hours of sleep throughout high school, but once I hit college I had a rougher time with it. Now I've trained myself to need something like 9 or 10 hours to feel fully rested - I really need to cut back.

I WISH I could go back to 6 hours a night. That was amazing.
  • kiranapoleon · 4 months ago
Sometimes I find that the more I sleep the sleepier I am...That usually kicks in after 9 or 10 hours. I think the sleep cycles are something like 1.5 hours, but I could be wrong about that. I think it is a lot about timing it right so you don't have to wake up in the middle of one.

And I thought adjusting to my new job is rough, but there definitely aren't wild kids in my office. So wow. Being a teacher seems so exhausting. Fun and rewarding, but DEFINITELY challenging.

I am a proud and happy 5-6 hour sleeper. Back in college there were days I could run on 4, but only for about a week or so. The secret is to to sleep less and then totally crash once about every two weeks. Take a Saturday and sleep for about 10-12, it feels really great. Oh and iPhone reading is starting to be less awkward for me since I got the New York Times app. Still prefer the actual Kindle though.
